Preparation:

  • After peeling, grate the apples with a large hole grater. Add the eggs, the baking powder and the vanilla sugar, then in more steps, mix the flour mix into it. Add enough flour to get a “nokedli”- or dumpling-like batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan and with a spoon, drop the batter into the warm but not too hot oil. Press the small apple mounds apart a bit with the back of the spoon and fry them until golden brown on both sides.
  • Place the fried hash browns on paper towel.
  • Sprinkle it with icing sugar till hot and serve them sprinkled with the mixture of cinnamon and powder sugar to taste.
